NECO 2025 Timetable Highlights: Practical & Written Exams

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the official 2025 exam timetable for candidates across Nigeria. The exams are scheduled to begin on Monday, 16th June and end on Friday, 11th July 2025. The timetable includes a wide range of practical and written papers in sciences, arts, vocational, and technical subjects.

 16–20th of June: Practical Exams Begin

• Subjects include Physical Education, Auto Mechanics, Woodwork, Home Management, Foods and Nutrition, Auto Electrical Work, Welding, Cosmetology, Garment Making, and more.

23rd June–27: Data Processing & Science Practicals

• June 23: Data Processing Practical (10:00 am – 1:00 pm)

• June 27: Practical exams in Biology and Chemistry (10:00 am – 12:00 noon)

30 – July 4: Core Subjects & Languages

• Store Management, Auto Mechanics, Geography, Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba, Edo, Efik, Ibibio.

• July 2: English Language Papers I–IV.

• July 3–4: Physics Practical and Government, Electronics, and Geography written exams.

July 7–9: Literature, Chemistry, and Technical Subjects

• Literature in English (Drama, Prose, and Poetry), Biology (Essay & Objective), Chemistry (Essay & Objective).

• Technical Drawing, Dyeing & Bleaching, Printing Craft, and Animal Husbandry practicals also take place.

July 11: Final Day

• Objective and Essay papers for Auto Parts Merchandising, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration, Electrical Installation, Carpentry, Upholstery, and more.

• Final report writing for practicals in Painting, Photography, and related fields.

Week 1: Practical Exams Kick Off – June 16 to June 20

The examination week starts with a variety of practical papers across multiple disciplines. These include:

• Physical Education (Paper I) – Date and time to be fixed by the council.

• Auto Mechanics, Woodwork, Foods & Nutrition, and Home Management – Each lasting three hours.

• Welding & Fabrication Engineering Craft Practice – Lasting 6 hours, one of the longest practicals this week.

• Other key practicals include Electrical Installation, Carpentry & Joinery, Garment Making, Cosmetology, and Catering Craft Practice.

For students in vocational fields like Auto Body Repair, GSM Maintenance, and Photography, this week is crucial as they’ll demonstrate hands-on knowledge.

Data Processing & French Written Exams – June 23–24

On Monday, June 23, students taking Data Processing will sit for their 3-hour practical from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.

The next day, Tuesday, June 24, focuses on French language papers:

• French Paper II (Written Expression) from 10:00 am to 11:00 am

• French Paper III (Written Expression) from 11:00 am to 12:45 pm

Also on this day:

• Music Objective & Essay papers run from 2:00 pm to 3:40 pm

• Electronics Practical will take place from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm

Arabic, History, and Technical Subjects – June 25–26

Students offering Arabic and History will take their written exams on Wednesday, June 25. Then on Thursday, June 26, various technical subjects will hold both their Objective and Essay papers.

These include:

• Auto Mechanical Work

• Plumbing & Pipe Fitting

• Furniture Making

• Cosmetology

• Data Processing

• Storekeeping

This is one of the most packed days of the timetable, starting from 10:00 am and extending into the afternoon with Commerce and Salesmanship papers.

Science Practicals and Language Papers – June 27 to July 2

• Biology and Chemistry Practicals are scheduled for Friday, June 27 from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon.

• From Tuesday, July 1, major Nigerian languages such as Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba, Edo, Efik, and Ibibio will be written.

• English Language Objective and Essay papers are fixed for Wednesday, July 2, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, followed by the Test of Orals.

Core Sciences and Final Papers – July 3 to July 11

• Physics Practical is on Thursday, July 3

• Geography, Government, and Electronics written exams are also scheduled.

• Literature in English, Computer Studies, Chemistry Objective & Essay, and Technical Drawing span the following week.

The final batch of exams, including Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, and Stenography, will be conducted on Friday, July 11. Most of these subjects will include both written report assessments and practical demonstrations.
